Are you a small business and want to help your employees by introducing or improving your family friendly work arrangements? Did you know that there are grants available of up to $15,000?

It seems only yesterday I was posting a snippet about this program after its launch, and here we are a year later already! If  you missed the deadline last year, now is your chance to act.

Under the Fresh Ideas for Work and Family (FIWF) Grants Program, small business can access assistance to put into place practices or resources that aid employees to better balance their work and family obligations. The ultimate aim of the policies is to help employees to establish a better work/life balance and improve employee retention and productivity.

To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • have fewer than 15 employees (but at least one employee); or
  • be a consortium of up to three small businesses (where each business in the consortium has fewer than 15 employees but at least one employee).

Round two is open for application from 25 February 2010. For factsheets, FAQ and applications for the program, visit the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations  website.
