mumThe Fresh Ideas for Work and Family initiative provides grants of $5 000 to $15 000 to encourage small businesses to implement family friendly work policies and practices.

These policies will help employees to establish a better work/life balance and improve employee retention and productivity.

The program also supports small business by:

  • developing and distributing information about family friendly work arrangements
  • having experts from Fair Work Australia on hand from January 2010 to provide assistance in setting up family friendly work arrangements.

Applications are open now until 24 April 2009. Further information and application forms can be obtained by visiting the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations’ website or calling the Workplace Infoline on 1300 363 264.
