And the Winner is…

winnerThis week”s WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM YOUR ACCOUNTANT? winner is Christina.

The first point Christina made is one I am particularly passionate about:

Christina says:
I would like to have a relationship with my accountant where I can feel free to drop an email or give a call to ask a quick question without getting hit with a bill every time.

Personally, I feel this practice is counter-productive. Accountants should be encouraging clients to keep them updated throughout the year (too often things like tax planning are left until information comes too late to be of any real benefit). They should be thrilled to have a client seeking input or information… a small investment of time pays off in the form of an interested, educated client who is keen to get things right. Ultimately, the accountants job is made so much easier and the client is better served. It’s a wonder to me why so many professionals insist on discouraging this relationship by billing every moment.

What are your thoughts? Head on over to the What do you want from your accountant? thread and you could be our next winner of a $20 Coles or Bunnings Gift Card.
